Wednesday, February 20, 2019
5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
On February 20th at 7:00 pm, Mr. Sam Stark from Knud E. Hanson will be presenting to the Canadian Atlantic section at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The topic will be the "The Challenges of Inclining Large Passenger Ships in Service". Prior to the presentation, SNAME will be hosting a social hour from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm nearby at The Red Stag. Appetizers will be provided so we hope to see you there!
Presentation Abstract: Cruise ships and ferries are frequently inclined while remaining in service in order to avoid costly interruptions. Inclinings must often proceed in adverse conditions involving weather, time constraints, and constantly shifting deadweight. Steps can be taken, through careful planning and coordination with crew, to improve reliability of test results.
