SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section Tours Caribbean Princess Cruise SHip

Halifax, Nova Scotia – The Canadian Atlantic Section (CAS) of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) toured the MS Caribbean Princess on August 15th.  The MS Caribbean Princess is a modified Grand Class cruise ship owned and operated by Princess Cruises, with a capacity of over 3,600 passengers, 900 balcony staterooms and a deck of mini-suites, and was the first modern cruise ship with an outdoor theater.  The society coordinated with the Port of Halifax to schedule a tour of the ship while in port on a cruise from New York City to Quebec and back.  The majority of passengers were off the vessel exploring Halifax making it easy to tour spaces and get around the ship.  The tour occurred mid-day which included topside deck spaces and entertainment areas.  Afterwards, all 15 attendees were able to dine in the buffet area of the ship with an excellent view of Georges Island across the harbor.
