SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section Halifax Winter Dinner

Halifax, Nova Scotia – The Canadian Atlantic Section (CAS) of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) hosted our annual Winter Dinner in Halifax at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron on Friday, March 29th.  The turn out from the local marine and naval community was fantastic with 35+ attendees overall and 15+ SNAME members in the audience.  Mr. Stephen Dauphinee from the Department of Defence was our keynote speaker presenting on 50 Years of RCN Marine Machinery Failures and Damage Incidents pulling from his 40 years of naval experience.  Registration started at 6:30pm with a cocktail hour, dinner service started at 7:00pm, and Steve’s presentation started around 8:00pm with the evening concluding after a lively Q&A session around 9:30pm.  SNAME CAS would like to thank all the hard work of past Chair, Mr. Jim Pope, and Awards and Scholarships Chair, Samara Hillier.  We would also like to thank our excellent sponsors whose generous donations helped to keep the attendance cost down: Victaulic, RINA, CIMarE, Fleetway, Horizon Maritime, International Paints, DNV GL, and Hawboldt Industries.
