Meeting Report on Zero Emission Vessels - Transition Pathways and Evolution of Maintenance Technology & LR’s Digital Compliance Framework presented by Panos Mitrou and Emmanuel Vergetis at the SNAME Greek Section’s monthly meeting on April 10th, 2019.

 

During the eighth section meeting for the 2018-2019season Panos Mitrou, Technology & Innovation Manager at Lloyd’s Register Marine & Offshore, South Europe and Emmanuel Vergetis, Senior Consultant, Marine & Offshore South Europe at Lloyd’s Register gave a presentation on Zero Emission Vessels - Transition Pathways and Evolution of Maintenance Technology & LR’s Digital Compliance Framework respectively.

Panos Mitrou took the floor and during his presentation he examined why zero emission fuels are needed to meet decarbonization targets; looked into what the GHG potential of various fuels based on origin is and presented four (4) basic scenarios in meeting the 2050 IMO GHG targets.

Once completed, Emmanuel Vergetis took the podium and started his presentation by giving some background information. He outlined the evolution of maintenance technology; presented a roadmap to systems effectiveness and maintenance optimization; referred to digital health management  and completed the session by presenting the LR digital compliance framework.

A Q&A session succeeded both presentations.

The meeting was well-attended by representatives from all segments of the industry that had the chance to network at the post meeting reception.
