Welcome to the Young Professionals (YP) Group of SNAME!

The SNAME Young Professionals (YP) is a SNAME initiative to promote and maintain the value of membership for members who have completed their initial academic work and are beginning to make their mark on the maritime industry. The SNAME Young Professionals group is designed to work at both the local and the Society level - locally, YP events are typically more social than standard technical events, and provide a platform for YP members to network in a less formal setting than otherwise might be offered within SNAME. At the Society level, it aims to produce and maintain resources helpful in the professional development of SNAME’s Young Professional members, including online resources, guides for local events, as well as networking and seminar events at the SNAME Maritime Convention.

You need to be a SNAME member to be part of the SNAME Young Professionals Community. Join today to make life long industry connections with fellow maritime professionals.

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) is an internationally recognized non-profit, professional society of individual members serving the maritime and offshore industries and suppliers. Organized in 1983, SNAME was incorporated to advance the art, science and practice of naval architecture, shipbuilding and marine engineering. With 6000+ members in 85 countries, SNAME is truly the International Community for Maritime and Ocean Professionals.

Growing up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts I was surrounded by the ocean, which led me to become fascinated with ships and boats. This ultimately led me to pursue Naval Architecture at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, which is where I was first introduced to the university’s SNAME section in 2018. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the SNAME Maritime Convention (SMC) in Providence, RI that Fall and for the following 3 years of my undergraduate studies. In 2020 I served as the Communications Chair on the Student Steering Committee (SSC), and as Chair in 2021 - experiences that I highly recommend to anyone interested! In 2022 I became the SNAME YP Chair, and I am very excited for the opportunity to stay involved with SNAME at the executive level.
  • Network within the SNAME community

  • Unique opportunities to explore technical facilities

  • Professional training to help advance your career

  • Assume leadership roles within the SNAME community

Over my 5 years of SNAME Membership, I have made countless invaluable connections with students and professionals through the SSC and SMC. In fact, when I began studying at the University of Southampton for my Masters Degree in Fall of 2022, I already knew 2 of my classmates through SNAME!
