Richard du Moulin, President and founder of Intrepid Shipping, a life-long sailor and accomplished ocean racing participant, will be our banquet speaker at our Annual Meeting and SPS event in Providence, RI this year. Hopefully Rich will be able to compete in our Regatta (J22s this year) as well. We are looking forward to an engaging talk that will cover both broader shipping and small craft topics in a way that will be useful to you no matter what segment of the industry you work or have interests. If you have not signed up for the banquet, please do, you will want to be there.
We have a robust program planned for the meeting and a wide variety of activites of interest. The Footy competition will be held again this year, and we have for the first time the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) joining us to hold one of their meetings in conjunction with our event. If you are an operator, please consider participating. If you are unfamiliar with this group it is a great chance to learn what they do. We are looking forward to working closely with them as time passes.
Among the various technical offerings we will continue exploring the very popular and timely issues surrounding LNG as fuel and other alternative fuel issues and options. Don't forget our student and young professional events and the opportunities to participate in a variety of networking events.
We have golf at a highly prestigious and beautiful course for those who play, and I encourage you to have a look at this club and course if you have not. We will have the usual alumni dinners and I understand and I am hopeful that we will have a new addtion to the dinner schedule this year, the New York Maritime Academy.
You can find all the details for these and the many other elements of the event on our home page or you can call us to discuss any interest you may have. I hope to see you in Providence in October and I hope you get to hear what Mr. du Moulin has to say at the banquet.
