There are big changes coming to the SNAME technical papers this weekend. The long-planned second migration is currently underway. If all goes according to plan, literally thousands more SNAME papers will be available for online purchase on June 1.
What kind of papers? Basically everything we could get online is going online. Consider this:
- All SNAME Transactions from the beginning of the Society (1893!)
- All SNAME Journal articles (Marine Technology, JSP and JSD)
- non-Transactions Annual Meeting Papers
- Technical Bulletins and Reports
- and more
More papers going online is only part of the good news. We have reworked the search page and search results pages. The document data shown after a search will now be improved to make research much easier and faster. The technical papers will be searchable and sortable by:
- Date
- Author Name
- Publication
- Alphabetical
- Page Count
Of course, all these documents will be available for immediate download. Of course members get a substantial 50% discount off all technical papers.
This transformation of the technical papers library is going on over the weekend. Sometime today (Friday, May 28) the technical papers library will go offline until Tuesday, June 1 as is necessary to get this project done. Thank you for your patience while the process is underway.
Of course, there may be some unexpected issues and tweaks needed following a migration of about 100.000 pages of content. You can't rule out gremlins completely, but tests of document uploads, search results, and online access/commerce have all been successfully performed. We are guardedly confident and optimistic that the technical papers library will be online and better than ever on Tuesday.
So, stay tuned and revist the SNAME Technical Resource Library on Tuesday.
