First allow me to introduce myself if you are not familiar;
I am Nathan Hagan, the newly elected Chair of the Student Steering Committee (SSC). I am happy to report on the emerging successes of the SSC and to share some of the excitement of projects and goals that we will be working on over the course of the next year. With the wonderful contributions and passionate service of my fellow SSC officers, we hope to make the student program of SNAME, as Alana might say, "Fabulous!"
To start, I attended the Executive Committee Meeting held at SNAME HQ this past Monday, and am happy to share that, as my first time in attendance to such a meeting, i was greeted with open arms and smiling faces. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work along side such respectful and admirable individuals.
Particular items that student members can begin to look forward to include expansion of Student Member benefits, improved communication and scholarship opportunities, including a scholarship fair at the student program of the annual meeting, improved student feedback for the SNAME website, and web presence, improved Student to YP member transition, and new-and-improved SSC eNewsletters, which include a Student of the Month, Industry Happenings, and Advice Column. In addition to all of these activities, the SSC has also reformed the Student Section Standards Committee to update the SSS Guide, a resource for Student Sections for the successful running of a section.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding any Student SNAME Programs please do not hesitate to ask. I am continuously available either through the SNAME site, or via email at nhagan12@webb-institute.edu.
Again thank you for all of the support and enthusiasm from all of the student members. I am very excited for the successes to come in the next year, and thank you to all student leaders who have stepped up to help make these successes a possibility.
Sincerely;
Nathan T. Hagan
