SNAME and the Offshore Technology Conference Series
Many SNAME members already recognize the important contributions of naval architects, marine and ocean engineers to the oil and gas business and in particular to the offshore sector, and appreciate our Society’s contribution to the annual OTC event.
Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference, OTC, is organized and operated exclusively to promote and further the advance of scientific and technical knowledge of offshore resources and environmental matters.
In 2013 attendance exceeded 100,000 with more than 120 countries represented, and over 2700 companies participating in the exhibition.
SNAME was a founding member society of the Offshore Technology Conference continues to play a leading role with SNAME member Ed Stokes as OTC Board Chairman and SNAME Member, Darrel Harvey as Vice Chair of the Program Committee. These two members are supported by many others from the Texas Section and beyond, who provide volunteer time to write and review papers, organize panel sessions and take on specific tasks to make OTC a success.
OTC, and its daughter conferences, the OTC Arctic Offshore Technology Conference, OTC Brasil and OTC Asia, are very important events for SNAME, as they not only provide excellent forums for knowledge transfer for our members through papers, panels and networking, but also provide our Society with over 30% of its annual operating revenue.
