Autonomous and remote-control technology is rapidly advancing and transforming the maritime industry. They provide an opportunity for the commercial marine, government, and offshore sectors to improve operations, enhance efficiency and automate work performed onboard ships and offshore units. In this webinar, we will explore new guidance, regulations, and developments for autonomous and remote-control functions. The discussion will cover IMO Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) regulatory scoping exercise, definitions and guidance for autonomous and remote-control functions, and developments in autonomous technology in the marine and offshore industry.

Mr. Domenic Carlucci, Vice President, Chief Technology Director - ABS

Mr. Carlucci is currently the Vice President, Chief Technology Director within ABS Global Government Services. Since joining ABS in 2008 Carlucci has held several senior roles in asset integrity management, life cycle risk and reliability, design and plan review, and product and service development. With extensive experience in the marine and offshore industries, Carlucci’s expertise includes: autonomous functionality, hybrid power applications, ship systems operations and maintenance, systems designs, risk and reliability analysis (FMEA, RCM), and condition/performance monitoring. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear trained Surface Warfare Officer. In that capacity he was qualified in vessel navigation and operations, engineering, and nuclear watch officer duties and responsibilities. His roles included large combatant and aircraft carrier assignments. Mr. Carlucci received his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Houston.
