Presented by the SNAME Turkey Community | Webinar | Additive Manufacturing and Its Role in Modern Boat Production
EVENT DESCRIPTIONAdditive manufacturing is steadily finding its place in the marine sector, from rapid prototypes and hull moulds to functional parts and on-site repairs. This webinar introduces the main additive manufacturing methods and looks at how they are being used in boat production today. We will explore the practical benefits these technologies can offer, including greater design freedom, reduced material waste, faster prototyping, and more flexible low-volume production, while also taking an honest look at the technical and regulatory challenges that still limit their wider adoption. Attendees will come away with a clearer understanding of where additive manufacturing currently fits into boat production and the considerations involved in applying it.SPEAKER/PRESENTERBahadır AKBahadır Ak currently works as a Research Assistant at Piri Reis University, where his research focuses on the structural reliability of ships. He graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Piri Reis University and is currently pursuing his master's degree at the same institution. Having gained experience in both field and design work, he has built a solid technical background in ship structures and is now focused on developing his career in academic research.
