Mari-Tech 2026 Conference & Exhibition – SKILLED SEAS – invites members of the global marine engineering community to contribute technical presentations at the conference being held in Victoria, BC on 12-14 May, 2026. 

 

  • Mari-Tech 2026 actively encourages contributions from post-secondary institutions. Universities, colleges, and technical institutes play a vital role in shaping the future of the marine sector through research, innovation, and the development of the next generation of marine professionals. We seek inputs from faculty, researchers, and students that highlight emerging technologies, applied research projects, or educational initiatives that support the growth and resilience of the marine industry. This is a valuable opportunity to showcase academic work on a global stage and strengthen connections between academia and industry 

 

Key topical areas for Mari-Tech 2026: 

The marine sector has many challenges and therefore opportunities. Although not an exclusive list, Mari-Tech 2026 is looking for presentations that align with the conference theme in the following key process and technology areas: 

  • Strategies to improve Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) and In-Service Support (ISS) operations: 

  • Model Based Enterprise (MBE) 

  • AI, Machine Learning, Digitilization 

  • Transitioning through Build, Sea Trials, Operational Phases  

  • Supporting Submarines and Submersibles 

  • Developing and retaining marine worker capacity and competency 

  • Best practices for effectively recruiting new workers 

  • Setting up key infrastructure and knowledgeable supply chains 

  • Hybrid approaches to education and training in support of certification 

  • Vessel and equipment innovation: 

  • Corrosion - winning the battle until replacement provided 

  • Decarbonization - rising to the challenge  

  • Energy handling and storage, including selection of alternate fuels  

  • Regulations - compliance and influencing  

  • Arctic operations - challenges and solutions 

  • Autonomous operations – demonstrating progress 

 

How will the sessions be formatted? 

  • Most Mari-Tech 2025 technical presentations will follow 45 minutes (35-minute presentation, 10-minute Q&A) format 

  • As an enabler for discussion and leveraging our 2024 and 2025 experiences, some presentations may be selected to follow a “lightning presentation” format of 20 minutes, including a 5-minute Q&A 

  • This will include opportunities for Student / Young Professional presentations 

  • Note: the four panel sessions will leverage topics / presenters from submitted abstracts 

 

How to submit an abstract? 

Authors are invited to submit their abstract of a maximum of 300 words online by 11:59 PM (ET) October 27, 2025. Abstract must be written in English. Please identify all speakers who will be in person to present. 

  • Target – by 28 November 2025 for notification of selection
