Nicholas Barczak, PE, President of DMS Marine Consultants, will present on “Neoship: Genetic Optimization of a Cost-Effective Zero-Emission Ship.”
Jan Flores, PE, Vice President at NETSCo, and Nick Hunter, PE, Senior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer at NETSCo, will present on the similarities and differences between ammonia and methanol-fueled vessels, including a discussion on the general costs and benefits versus LNG-fueled vessels.
Connor Arrigan, Ph.D. Pre-Candidate at the University of Michigan, will be presenting on his award winning research paper titled “The Importance of Ontological Commitment, Ontological Anchors, and Second Order Logic for Ship Design”
Jingyu Song, Robotics PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan, will present on "Localization and Mapping for Underwater Robots"
Onur Bagoren, Robotics PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan, will present on “Machine Learning for Shipwreck Detection from Robotically-Gathered Sonar Data”
LT Aaron Rice, Chief, Inspections Division U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit, will present on the implementation of Lithium-ion Batteries on vessels and how the Coast Guard and classification societies are addressing this emerging technology.
