EVENT DESCRIPTIONThis Technical Presentation is focused on addressing the decarbonization requirements of the existing fleets, Wärtsilä introduces the “Fitness for Fleets” portfolio of retrofit solutions for 2-stroke marine propulsion engines.The portfolio comprises efficiency upgrades and fuel conversion solutions for LNG, methanol, and ammonia. Paired with its continuously expanding decarbonization advisory services, Wärtsilä can help shipowners to optimize fuel efficiency, stay compliant and extend the profitable lifetime of their ships with a pragmatic approach to retrofits.SPEAKER/PRESENTERDr. Vasilios LamarisDecarbonization Manager, WartsilaAbout the SpeakerLarge Engine technical expert with almost 15 years of experience in the areas of engine development & testing, performance & emissions monitoring mainly in marine applications (diesel & dual fuel). Combines state-of-the-art scientific knowledge (PhD level) with practical experience from field operations (vessels on-board etc.). Deeply involved in on-board data acquisition, engine performance evaluation, fleet operational optimization, and emissions monitoring & compliance evaluation related to modern merchant vessels. Vasilios Has published numerous papers for international scientific conferences and journals.Current role: Decarbonization Manager in Wartsila, mainly focusing on the 2-stroke engine business. Vasilios joined Wartsila 2,5 years ago and is located in Athens, Greece. Main tasks are the development of methods and tools required for the 2S Decarbonisation Advisory and leading the feasibility studies for large retrofit projects (i.e. fuel conversions, ME deratings etc.), carried out for customers in the commercial phase leading to a sales proposal.Vasilis holds a PhD in Engineering and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Mechanical Engineers of the National Technical University of Athens.
