2016 SNAME Maritime Convention: Call for Content

03-08-2016 08:28 AM

Planning for the 2016 SNAME Maritime Convention (SMC) is well underway. This November we will be return to Bellevue, WA (Seattle) at the Hyatt Regency. The SMC program committee is looking for your input to help make this SMC the best yet! Specifically, the committee is seeking your ideas for content for this year’s program. This year we have created a "Call for Content" in place of a traditional call for papers. The name change is more than semantics - we are looking for not only papers, but also panel sessions, demonstrations (new widgets, software, etc.), presentations that don't quite fit the constraints of a paper, best content from symposia and section meetings, and any other dynamic content you can think of. Content can come from any of the seven lifecycle periods that are part of SNAME’s mission to serve all of the maritime industry including Student, Educator/Researcher, Engineer/Designer, Manufacturer, Shipbuilder, Operator, and Recycler/Salvor. The Executive Committee is also reaching out to other organizations to help build a program content that will address all of the SNAME constituencies. All of these efforts are intended to enhance the overall SMC program, but not replace traditional SNAME papers. We will continue to include the high quality papers that have traditionally been the backbone of SNAME's flagship annual event.
