I just got the message this morning about our new group. I have some documents ready to upload and my goal is to get everyone up to speed with a general overview and brief project timetable and goals. I want to emphasize that this is not just something I'm doing for everyone else. I want to set up a system/process where everyone can contribute. SNAME's role (Project 114 for now) is to provide the "glue" and to show how this can be done. My philosophy is to keep it simple to understand. Let me know if my message is too confusing or long-winded. That would mean that I am doing something wrong.
I started developing software for marine design in the early 70's with Calcomp plotters and Tektronix green screens (remember those?) and used the old SHCP mainframe batch program. I have been programming ever since, suffering through the changes to PCs, C++, DOS, Windows, and now phone apps. I keep waiting for things to settle down, but isn't that the sign of insanity? I hope that Project 114 will deal/adapt to this and the problems of limited "shelf life" and our small market. More soon when I figure how to add content to this site.
