Registration will close end of the day on May 8. In his presentation, Doug will look at the why and what we need to think about when ships are out of water. He will discuss some history and the developments in current methods for getting ships dry. He will then turn to have a look at various alternatives. Finally, he will review safety and what happens when it all goes wrong and right.
SPEAKERDoug Milne is Operations Support Manager in Devonport providing technical support to waterfront operations. Doug graduated in Naval Architecture from the University of Strathclyde in 1980. He has held a variety of production and technical positions in shipbuilding, ship repair and support for commercial and military vessels in ship and boat-building yards in the UK and abroad. Doug joined his current employer, then DML, in 1998 as head of naval architecture and has held several positions in his current role. He is a member of Lloyd’s Register’s Naval Ship Technical Committee.
