Offshore floating wind development is moving further into deeper waters with a generation potential of around 7,000 GW for Europe, the US and Japan combined according to industry estimates.
Floating wind turbines are connected with dynamic power cables and specific accessories running through the water column in different configurations, exposed to a range of hydrodynamic loads.
This presentation aims to provide an overview of the state of the art of dynamic power cables technology for floating wind applications, highlighting current knowledge gaps, challenges and potential risk mitigations.
