Welcome to the Young Professionals (YP) Group of SNAME!

The SNAME Young Professionals (YP) is a SNAME initiative to promote and maintain the value of membership for members who have completed their initial academic work and are beginning to make their mark on the maritime industry. The SNAME Young Professionals group is designed to work at both the local and the Society level - locally, YP events are typically more social than standard technical events, and provide a platform for YP members to network in a less formal setting than otherwise might be offered within SNAME. At the Society level, it aims to produce and maintain resources helpful in the professional development of SNAME’s Young Professional members, including online resources, guides for local events, as well as networking and seminar events at the SNAME Maritime Convention.

You need to be a SNAME member to be part of the SNAME Young Professionals Community. Join today to make life long industry connections with fellow maritime professionals.

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) is an internationally recognized non-profit, professional society of individual members serving the maritime and offshore industries and suppliers. Organized in 1983, SNAME was incorporated to advance the art, science and practice of naval architecture, shipbuilding and marine engineering. With 6000+ members in 85 countries, SNAME is truly the International Community for Maritime and Ocean Professionals.

Young Professionals (YP) is SNAME's initiative to help transition student members to associate members.

Regular YP events are held by our local sections and often include technical meetings or industry related tours. We welcome and encourage current and prospective memebers to reach out and attend the local YP events and become part of the global SNAME community.

SNAME YP is truly a value added program for young members and provides numerous opportunities to young professionals for growth and success in the early stages of their careers. YP offers professional training and other opportunities to assist members in early stages of their careers. All members are encouraged to use the YP website and it's resources to connect with Young Professionals.
