Hello Canadian Pacific Section Members
Polls for the election of the next Vice Chair and Young Professionals Coordinator are now open! Information about the candidates can be found on the ballot webpage, while information on the nature of the positions can be found in the section Bylaws or in the nomination post.
As there is overlap between the candidates for the two positions this year, we will be counting the votes for the Vice Chair position first, then removing any votes for the winner of the of the first vote from the YP Coordinator ballots prior to counting them.
In addition to the two executive council positions, two proposed bylaw amendments will also be on the ballot. These are as follows:
- Adding the Membership Chair role to the list of executive council positions. This is a position that all sections are expected to have (and in fact, we have had someone in the position since the creation of the section), however it was overlooked during the initial creation of the section bylaws. This bylaw change simply brings us in line with how the section has been operating. As with the Treasurer and T&R Representative roles, the Membership chair will be an appointed position with the possibility for extension beyond the standard two year term. The rationale behind this is that this position requires interfacing with both SNAME HQ and with the Corporate Affiliates within the section, so continuity is considered critical for the role.
- Election date moved to better coincide with SNAME Leadership Summit deadlines (SLS is the annual training summit for incoming section leadership). This means we will have a complete list of executive council members prior to the registration deadline for SLS.
A copy of the bylaws, with proposed amendments, is attached.
The link to the online ballot, can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CanPacSectionElection
Deadline for voting is Monday June 16th at 5 pm PDT.
Please keep in mind that in order to vote you must be a member in good standing of the Canadian Pacific section, and that you should only vote once.
Please take a moment to participate in the election process and have your say in how the section is run.
Best Regards,
