    Hello Everyone,

I hope you are doing well.
After the successful bowling night event,  SNAME Canadian Pacific is back with another interesting presentation on rotor sail technology.
    Please see the details below.
Topic: What's New with Norsepower Rotor Sails?

Speaker: Dr Iain Braidwood P.Eng., C.Eng., FRINA, MNI, MSNAME

    Description:

Dr Braidwood is, apart from being a Consultant Naval Architect here in Vancouver and an Adjunct Professor of Naval Architecture at UBC, the person supporting the Finnish company Norse power in Western Canada and the United States on their Rotor Sail projects. Norsepower's mission is to reduce the environmental impact of shipping through the commercialization of innovative and modern sail power, or, put more simply, "Bringing Sails Back to Shipping". In this talk he will look at some of the recent projects for Norsepower including a Very Large Ore Carrier and, most recently, an installation on the 2018 built Delphine, the world's largest short sea Ro-Ro vessel, as well as installations on Baltic Ferries with a two hour crossing period. He'll also talk about the theory of Rotor Sails, describe the size ranges and look at how the take up of Rotor Sails is going in this "Decade of Wind Propulsion".
