Employers

Welcome to the CMA-SNAME Career and Internship resource page.

Its purpose is to provide connections and information for our Student Section members and interested employers. As a student professional society, it is CMA-SNAMEs' role to provide and develop, in its members, the necessary job-hunting skills that will benefit them for the rest of their careers. Additionally, it is the Student Section’s goal to inform potential employers what skills and knowledge our student member have to offer.

Employers

As our student members have chosen to focus their interest in the Naval
Architect
and Marine Engineering fields, it is important to convey what they have to offer to the industry. Every major that is offered by the California Maritime Academy (CMA) is developed from a maritime perspective. This is unique among the majority of university level education. Many of our members graduate from CMA with either a Deck or Engineering U.S.C.G. License, as part of the Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering Technology Majors, or as a minor in conjunction with a  B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

The academic environment  at CMA provides our members with hands-on engineering skills not found in most Universities. Our members are exposed to in-depth engineering maintenance, both preventative and corrective.
They are trained in industrial safety practices as well as plant operations and management. Our members have the benefit of a 499 ft training ship and plant simulators where theory meets application. Our members are educated by both academic professors and trade professionals creating a truly well-rounded educational experience.
