EVENT DESCRIPTION
SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section is happy to announce a Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Ship tour and presentation on March 28, 2024. The CCGS Captain Molly Kool is one of the Canadian Coast Guard’s newest acquisitions. This Medium Interim Icebreaker was added to the Fleet to provide interim capacity to deliver Icebreaking and Search and Rescue operations while the older vessels in the fleet undergo a rigorous Vessel Life Extension Program.

Presentation Abstract:
Join us for an introduction to the Canadian Coast Guard’s programs, services and area of operations. We will look at how the Canadian Coast Guard supports Marine Safety and the Canadian Economy through its suite of services delivered by both its shore-based facilities and versatile fleet of vessels.

SPEAKER/PRESENTER
Capt. Trevor Hodgson , A/ Senior Director, Fleet
Capt. Hodgson is responsible for the safe and effective operation of all Coast Guard ships within the Atlantic Region. A Captain from the Coast Guard and graduate of the Canadian Coast College, he has had an extensive seagoing and shore-based career delivering the programs of the Canadian Coast Guard throughout Eastern Canada and the Canadian Arctic, including two scientific missions to the North Pole. His current focus is on modernizing the shipboard culture of the Canadian Coast Guard, and preparing the region to receive new vessels under the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

Meet at the West gate of Coast Guard Base at: 280 Southside Road. Parking is available in parking lot outside secured area off Southside Road.
NOTE: Make sure to have your government photo ID with you on the day of the event, and please wear close-toed shoes.
