  • Data Security and Governance in Maritime Systems - VIRTUAL EVENT

    Jan 27, 07:00 PM - 08:30 PM (ET)
EVENT DESCRIPTION As Canada accelerates digital transformation across all industries, the understanding of how our data is managed (governed) and where it is allowed to reside or move (sovereignty) has become central to operational safety, resilience and trust. Increasing reliance on connected platforms, AI-enabled tools, and cross-organizational data exchange has elevated data security from a technical concern to our strategic responsibility. The presentation will explore data security and governance through a maritime lens, focusing on how our organizations can move beyond compliance towards resilient, mission-aligned and confident, data stewardship. Drawing from recent case studies, we will discuss how intelligent frameworks automate lineage, enforce policy, and provide transparency across complex data ecosystems allowing for collaboration, supporting operations and innovation while managing risk, and reinforcing a secure and safe culture for our teams, in an increasingly complex socio-technical environment. . SPEAKER/PRESENTER Karen Arsenault, Director Strategic Growth and Client Engagement, InnovMarine LinkedIN • Began career as a Communications and Electronics Engineering Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and progressed through leadership roles across public and private sectors spanning all defense domains, and commercial industry. • Recognized as a solution-oriented leader, skilled in building cohesive teams and driving strategic planning. • Extensive experience in national defense, critical infrastructure security and risk management, and cyber assurance. • Led cross-functional teams to deliver complex programs, manage contracts, ensure regulatory compliance, and apply data analytics and technological solutions to improve decision-making, and operational outcomes. • Holds certifications: PMP, CISSP, ITIL, and SAFe. • Personal passions include art, athletics, gardening, and writing with a strong commitment to community and continuous growth. .
