Meeting Report on The Value of Assessing Performance presented by Mariangela Zanaki at the SNAME Greek Section’s monthly meeting on September 19th, 2019.

 

During the first section meeting for the 2019-2020season Mariangela Zanaki, Managing Partner at Evalion Maritime Ltd. gave a presentation on The Value of Assessing Performance.

Mrs. Zanaki took the floor and discussed the increasing interest of processes involved in assessing performance. Her presentation focused on the what, the how and the why of performance assessment. She accomplished her presentation objective that was to familiarize the participants with the ways in which assessment can be utilized as a tool that enables informed decision making, on both selection and development processes of crew or shore-based personnel.

Mrs. Zanaki provided a detailed description of the various assessment methods, such as psychometric and behavioral, that can be useful in identifying skills and competencies of seafarers by explaining the benefits and drawbacks of these methods.

She presented in detail the value of assessment in strategic planning and allowed plenty of room for discussion in a Q&A session that was vibrant and interactive.

The meeting was well-attended by representatives from all segments of the industry that had the chance to network at the post-meeting reception.
