Meeting Report on A Zero-Emission Energy Revolution for Ocean Transportation presented by Mikal Bøe at the SNAME Greek Section webinar meeting on September 17, 2020.
During the first section webinar for the 2020-2021season Mikal Bøe, CEO of CORE POWER (UK) Ltd, gave a presentation on the topic of Zero-Emission Energy Revolution for Ocean Transportation.
Mr. Boe started his presentation by giving an overview of the current legal framework and its implications for shipping. He called attention to the immediate requirement to reduce emission by almost 90 percent by 2050 and presented CORE-POWER strategy to develop game changing energy technology in the form of the marine-Molten Salt Reactor (m-MSR) for ocean transportation together with the world’s leading Advanced Reactor Developers (ARDs).
He presented the multiple benefits of m-MSR technology and highlighted that it forms the start of a ‘second atomic era’, where climate change is the main driver of powerful, inexpensive, and safe new energy solutions.
An interesting Q&A session followed his presentation. The webinar was well-attended by industry representatives worldwide.
