USS DORADO Project - VIRTUAL EVENT
Join the Hampton Roads Section for our November Section meeting on The USS DORADO Project.
Description: The USS Dorado Project team believes that Dorado was lost due to a friendly fire incident in the central Caribbean on the night of October 12, 1943. Her wreck site and final resting place likely is in the vicinity of that attack. The presentation will cover details of her voyage south to the Caribbean, and the details of the scenario that we believe led to her loss on the night of 12 October 1943. We will also cover the methodology we developed to determine her final resting place, and cover our plans to conduct a search. The final part of the presentation will cover our efforts to petition the Secretary of the Navy to award the families of the crew the Purple Heart medal, an honor denied to them in 1943 due to a bureaucratic oversight.
Food will be provided.
Free parking is available onsite.
