From the Incline Reports of the USS Kearsarge and Kentucky to the Booklet of General Machinery Plans of USS Hornet to the Lines plan of the SS United States, there is a great wealth of material available on the National Achieves’ website. Davy will take us through some of the ways he finds things there and show some of the more interesting finds he has made.SPEAKER/PRESENTERDavid Hansch is a Fellow and Life Member of the Society of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE). He serves SNAME as a Chair of SD-1, the Weights Engineering Panel, and as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Ship Production and Design and is a Past Chair of the Hampton Roads SNAME Section. He is also a member of SD-3, the Ship Stability Panel. Davy has written numerous papers on ship stability and weight engineering topics for both SNAME and the SAWE. In 2015 he received the Graduate Paper Honor Prize for his paper “The Effect of Shallow Water on Roll Damping and Rolling Period”. Davy is a Naval Architect at Newport News Shipbuilding and has a strong interest on the history of shipbuilding and naval architecture.
