At it’s first meeting in Providence during the 2015 WMTC the panel discussed creating a “Recommended Practices” document to provide technical guidance on how to build a survivable ship regardless of class by utilizing lessons learned across all maritime industries and include direction on standardized processes for adhering to current/future maritime regulations. The first step in framing a “Recommended Practices” document will be to build a matrix of common damage (ex: fire, flooding, etc.) by ship class to determine overlapping areas across industries.
The Panel intends to meet quarterly with it’s next meeting tentatively set for March 1, of 2016 in the Washington DC area or by teleconference for those unable to attend in person. For more information contact Maggie Nate at mnate@alionscience.com
