    The President of SNAME in 1970-1971 was Daniel D. Strohmeier and was an Emory S. Land Medalist in 1971. Strohmeier was an avid sailor and cruiser. Strohmeier began his journey into the industry in 1932, where he received his BA from Amherst College. Mr. Strohmeier next went onto MIT, where he received his BS in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1934. Strohmeier had a passion for boats and later became the Vice President and head of the Ship Building Division in 1948.
