Ferry-tale: Concept Design of a RoPax Ferry and Experience with the Lisnyk Competition

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section in congratulating the first-place winners of “The Dr. James A. Lisnyk Student Ship Design Competition 2023”. In this webinar, Tia, Robert, Alexis, and Kevin - who were students at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador - will share their experience and a few tips and tricks for students who want to apply for the competition.

AbstractThe Dr. James A. Lisnyk Design competition is a contest open for all undergraduate students to submit a theoretical design for an ocean-going ship or submarine of at least 500 tons. This year, a team from Memorial University tied for top honours with their RoPax ferry design. Members of the Memorial team will give a presentation on their vessel, reviewing the decisions that were made to ensure their concept met stringent owner's requirements. They will also discuss the lessons learned during the design process to hopefully aid current Memorial students with their own capstone projects and Lisnyk submissions.
