EVENT DESCRIPTION

We are proud to announce that once again, students from the Ocean and Naval Architecture Engineering program at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador have won “The Dr. James A. Lisnyk Student Ship Design Competition 2024”. In this webinar, Bolun, Chioma, Kendal, Kyle, and Zack will present their award-winning project. They will share their experiences and provide valuable insights, including tips and tricks for students aspiring to enter the competition.

The Dr. James A. Lisnyk Design competition is a contest open for all undergraduate students to submit a theoretical design for an ocean-going ship or submarine of at least 500 tons. In 2024, another team from Memorial University of Newfoundland once again competed, placing 3rd overall with their innovative design of a Trans-Atlantic Ammonia Carrier tailored specifically for Project Nujio'qonik. Members of the Memorial team will give a presentation on their vessel, reviewing the decisions that were made to ensure their concept met stringent owner's requirements. They will also discuss the lessons learned during the design process to hopefully aid current Memorial students with their own capstone projects and Lisnyk submissions.
