Mr. Sam Stark presents to Sname Canadian atlantic section
Halifax, Nova Scotia – On February 20th at 7:00 pm, Mr. Sam Stark from Knud E. Hanson presented to the Canadian Atlantic section at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The topic was "The Challenges of Inclining Large Passenger Ships in Service". Mr. Stark discussed how cruise ships and ferries are frequently inclined while remaining in service in order to avoid costly interruptions. He noted that inclinings must often proceed in adverse conditions involving weather, time constraints, and constantly shifting deadweight. He also covered steps that can be taken, through careful planning and coordination with crew, to improve reliability of test results. Prior to the presentation, SNAME also hosted a social hour from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm nearby at The Red Stag. SNAME CAS provided appetizers and a fun time was had by all!
