SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section Tours COVE Facility in Dartmouth

Halifax, Nova Scotia – The Canadian Atlantic Section (CAS) of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) toured the COVE facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on Wednesday evening, April 24th 2019.  The Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE) is a collaborative facility for applied innovation in the ocean sector. Their mission is to propel the ocean economy by providing high quality marine infrastructure and a collaborative space in which a community of ocean enterprises can start, grow and prosper. Their primary goal is to support ocean technology commercialization. This event provided SNAME members and local community members the opportunity to tour the modern collaborative work spaces and meet with some of the tenants of COVE.  A big thank you to COVE COO Sheila Paterson for giving us such a fantastic tour of the fabrication, incubator, and office spaces as well as the dock area.  The MV Horizon Star, which SNAME CAS toured earlier this year, was also docked on the day of our visit as was LeeWay Marine’s Striker, a vessel capable of a top speed of approximately 55 knots!
