SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section Presentation

1st   Presentation:   

Launch and Recovery of model tests conducted at NRC, St. John’s NL

Speaker:  Kevin McTaggart, PhD. 



 Kevin will open the meeting with a short video that was featured on the Discovery Channel, Daily Planet show of launch and recovery model tests recently conducted by the Defence Research and Development Canada in St. John’s, Newfoundland.


2nd Presentation:   

Topic 1: Alternate shock test method for Canadian Surface Combatants &

Topic 2: Better protection of stairwells/MCR's via the SNAME T&R bulletin

Speaker:  Adam Smith, Director Naval Projects, Bronswerk Group



Adam will give an overview of how new approaches have been developed for Naval applications in concert with the UK Minisrty of Defence and BAE for the British Successor Submarine Program. A similar, alternate shock test method, that could be used in some cases for Canadian Surface Combatants' equipment (above mount vs below mount) will be presented as well as environmental qualification. Finally Adam’s presentation will discuss how we could better protect stairwells and MCR's via the SNAME T&R bulletin on HVAC.
