EVENT DESCRIPTION


The SNAME Chesapeake Section will be welcoming Sean Kery as he presents his findings on past wave spectra assumptions and how a reevaluation is in order based on modern data and advancements in computational analysis. In preparation for his forthcoming paper, Sean examined trends in wave spectra recorded by NOAA/NDCB wave buoys at 52 locations, spanning typically 10 years, in the North Atlantic, North Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and the Great Lakes. This technical presentation will introduce the data, the data processing methods, and methodology on its application to seakeeping and maneuvering studies.

Sean Kery MS PE FSNAME

Sean Kery MS PE FSNAME has been doing Ocean engineering and Naval Architecture for 39 years so far. His career has spanned academia, defense contractors and commercial shipbuilding so far. He currently works for the Columbia Group. He is the author or co author of about 70 Scientific and technical publications with numerous awards. He is the current Chairman of the SNAME Marine Forensics Committee.
