The Greek Section of SNAME and RISE (the Research Institutes of SWEDEN) jointly organized an open workshop on the potential of wind ship propulsion in Athens. The event was specifically directed towards ship owners, ship managers and ship operators who wanted to learn more about the potential and prospects of wind-assistance technologies.
Experts from RISE presented the latest regarding wind-powered ships, discussed how wind propulsion influences ship operation, and how it can help to improve fuel efficiency, EEXI ratings and CII values.
Six leading providers of wind propulsion technologies presented their systems and were available for questions.
Representatives of major Class Societies and of the Greek Shipping industry discussed the prospects of wind ship propulsion in the light of most recent technological and regulatory developments.
The participation at the workshop was free of charge thanks to the coverage of the catering by sponsorships of BV, ABS, DNV and OceanKing. A pre-registration was required for all participants of the event.
"The Greek Section of SNAME would like to acknowledge RISE for a wonderful collaboration and
