When:  Jan 28, 2026 from 06:30 PM to 07:30 PM (CT)
Associated with  Gulf Section

EVENT DESCRIPTION

As the maritime industry steers toward decarbonization, selecting viable alternative fuels has become both a technical and strategic challenge. This presentation will examine the key considerations in evaluating alternative marine fuels, spanning availability, energy density, handling requirements, lifecycle emissions, and infrastructure readiness. It will explore the origins, properties, and practical advantages of residual fuels, biofuels, LNG, methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen as well as a comparative assessment, highlighting their relative strengths, and trade-offs. The discussion will culminate with an example fuel transition strategy that vessel owners can use to maintain flexibility while signaling industry readiness for infrastructure investment. Attendees will gain a clear framework for understanding the evolving fuel landscape and its implications for future ship design and operations.
