BP’s Apparent Dismissive Attitude

.

It seems that everyday we are bombarded with media reports of how BP is working diligently to stem the flow of oil into the gulf.  The problem is oil continues to flow and BP despite trying a variety of ideas has been way less than successful in their attempts to stem this flow.

I’m sure that BP has been inundated with suggestions and advice much of which falls into the category of flaky.

However we have now passed the 60 day mark and it’s hard not to question BP’s commitment and approach to solving this disastrous problem.

As an engineer whose background and experience has much relevance to helping BP solve this problem I am confused by their attitude.  I have submitted two emails using BP’s “Alternative Technology Response Form” and I’ve called and spoken directly to a live person at their “National Response Center”.  My first email was in early May, I called the “National Response Center” about two weeks ago and followed that call up very shortly with my second email, which included a multi page proposal as an attachment.

Predictably I’ve had a zero response suggesting that my input is either being ignored or being reviewed by under qualified and inexperienced personnel who have relegated my suggestions to the flaky category.

My suggestions focus on ways to render the first containment device effective by modifying it to handle the negative effects of methane hydrate build-up.  I’m convinced that what I’m suggesting is feasible, cost effective and could be in place and working very quickly.

As such I see my ideas as worthy of at least some discussion with BP’s technical people; the fact that there has been zero response tells me that despite  clear evidence to the contrary BP personnel believe that they know best, have drawn their conclusions accordingly and have dismissed my offerings as the work of an off-the-wall simpleton.

Has anybody else had a similar experience with BP’s dismissive indifference? Any suggestions on how to make contact with an actual BP person? Thanks

I have had the same experience as you.
