On the occasion of the visit of Mr. Joe Comer, President of SNAME we will hold a Technical-Scientific Meeting of "SNAME Italia" on the following topic:

"Energy Efficiency: Technical Measures to Improve Energy Efficiency and Reduce Emissions"

Speaker:

Mr. Jan Otto de Kat, ABS Director of Energy Efficiency at Operational and Environmental Performance Department

The presentation will cover key issues for the design of energy efficient ships with reduced emissions. In particular, the current regulatory landscape for air emissions will be considered together with the key issues of energy efficiency such as ESDs, hull, propeller and machinery. Options for emission abatement measures will be briefly described.

The presentation will also briefly cover the basic principles of a techno-economic assessment, the importance of the operational profile and a life-cycle cost analysis.

November 27, 2014 – 1^st General Assembly for Election and 1^st Technical Meeting

The first meeting of the Italian section of SNAME was held on November 27, 2014. The members of the first Executive Committee were elected. They are B. Dionisi, A. Cosulich, V. Damonte, A. Gamaleri, and C. Podenzana Bonvino.  Alessandro Maccari, Research and Innovation Manager of Fincantieri SpA, also gave a lecture entitled “Safety of Large Cruise Ships: Development of New International Regulations and New Scenarios.”
