TOUR LOCATION
The Aaron Friedman Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory:
The Aaron Friedman Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory is a prominent facility with a long-standing history in the fields of naval architecture and marine engineering. Celebrating over a hundred years of operation, the laboratory is renowned for its exceptional towing tank that measures 360 feet in length – a key feature that underlines its specialized role in maritime research. The primary function of the lab is to conduct experiments by towing scaled models of ship hulls, allowing experts to collect critical hydrodynamic data. This data is instrumental in understanding fluid dynamics and resistance, and in turn, contributes to the field by informing the design and performance optimization of various marine vessels.
