1st Place: Andrew Harville, Webb Institute ($3,500 cash award)
2nd Place: Jacob Ng, University of Michigan ($1,500 cash award)
The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers announced Andrew Harville of Webb Institute as the winner of the 2009 Americas Maritime Technology Student of the Year Award. Jacob Ng, of the University of Michigan, garnered second place. Both will receive a cash award.
The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust Americas Maritime Technology Student of the Year Award highlights academic excellence and encourages students to showcase their research and investigative studies on various topics in the areas of naval architecture and marine and ocean engineering and promote leadership in the industry.

Phil Kimball, Executive Director of SNAME agreed, saying: “We believe it is essential to encourage, inspire and recognize the work of young men and women who have chosen naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering as their course of study.”
