IMO Seeking Auditors for Goal Based Standards

10-06-2010 04:20 PM

A newly adopted IMO regulation on goal-based ship construction standards calls for auditing of the rules for design and construction of bulk carriers and oil tankers. The US Coast Guard will be forwarding to IMO nominations for auditors, and has requested that SNAME make known to its membership this opportunity to participate in this important process (see letter to SNAME from US Coast Guard, dated 14 Sep 2010). The expertise and qualifications for auditors is described in the accompanying attachments. The time commitment will be approximately three to six weeks over a three month period. IMO will pay a modest stipend to auditors, and cover expenses. If you are a US citizen, and are interested in serving as an auditor please submit forms IMO/2 and IMO/3 via email to Jaideep Sirkar at the US Coast Guard by clicking here . Please do not submit FORM IMO/1 at this time. All forms and letters referenced above are attached here.
