The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers introduced (mt) today. The publication is received by all SNAME members as a benefit of membership and is available to nonmembers via subscription. The (mt) website, allowing member access to the contents of the magazine to members, is online at www.sname.org/sname/mt. (mt) replaces Marine Technology and SNAME News as the flagship publication of the Society. The new magazine provides relevant technical content in a format more approachable to the average reader. “The transformation of SNAME’s well-regarded Marine Technology journal into (mt)… has been a rewarding adventure,” Jay Carson, Chair of the (mt) Editorial Committee explained. “Our objective is to provide a high-quality technical magazine that is readable, timely, and relevant to our diverse membership. SNAME covers the waterfront, across many seafaring nations around the globe, from boats to ships to offshore structures,” SNAME President Keith Michel also believes members and all readers will find a lot to like in the new (mt). “Our members told us they wanted a membership publication that was timely and more reflective of the breadth of the maritime and offshore industries,” Michel wrote in a communication to all SNAME Members. “As a result, the new (mt) has a new, cutting-edge look and editorial content that is technical in nature while being more accessible and readable.” The initial issue of (mt) is being received by SNAME Members and subscribers this week.
