The Grand Manan Adventure is the Province of New Brunswick’s brand new, 85 metre, 82 car ferry. The new vessel replaces the Grand Manan V as the main vessel operating the route between Black’s Harbour and Grand Manan Island, in the Bay of Fundy. STX Canada Marine was retained by the builder, Eastern Shipbuilding Group of Panama City, Florida to verify the vessel’s contract Key Performance Indicators (such as speed performance, endurance, seakeeping, etc.) prior to signing of the construction contract, and to provide the transitional engineering of the vessel – developing a concept design into a functional engineering package for the shipyard. Seattle Meeting Notice - October

Bryan Wood of Coast Dynamics Marine Group will present:

Design for the Human Factor in High Speed Vessels

Today’s boat crews are tasked with operating vessels at greater speeds, on longer assignments, in rougher conditions and as a result have paid the price in the way of injury and shortened careers as operators. As can be expected, technology has eclipsed the abilities of a human body to naturally accommodate the forces imposed upon it. Coast Dynamics Group (CDG) has been working hard with the military and those who specialize in Human Factors or HSI (Human Systems Integration) to develop new technology, scientific analysis and intuitive approaches to ensure boat crew safety and extend the productive life-cycle of operators. CDG has developed and has in operation the necessary tools that are dramatically decreasing the probabilities of injury and are increasing the efficiency and readiness of boat crews.
