  • Mari-tech 2024 - Call for Papers

MAKE AN IMPACT AND SUBMIT YOUR PRESENTATIONS TODAY!

    Deadline is November 30, 2023

Mari-Tech 2024 Conference & Exhibition – NAVIGATING SUSTAINABLE MARINE TRANSPORTATION – invites members of the global marine engineering community to contribute technical papers for presentation at the conference being held in St. John's, NL on May 14 – 16, 2024.

Since time immemorial, societies have relied on the marine community to provide movement of goods and services from one place to another. Mariners have relied on navigation to understand where we are and where we are going. Today, with the advent of new technologies and growing workforce knowledge bases, the maritime industry has evolved significantly. However, as we progress further into the digital era, technology and a focus on environmental impact are driving change at a rapidly increasing pace. We too as a marine community must find ways to navigate through current and forthcoming challenges in sustainability.

    Why present at Mari-Tech 2024?

Do you want a chance to make an impact and share your knowledge? Mari-Tech 2024 is all about profiling leading-edge applications and concepts whether it be delivery of a challenging marine project; development of best practices in the maritime sector; new research, development and innovation. Navigating a sustainable marine industry will require the best ideas and an all hands on deck approach.

Presenting at Mari-Tech 2024 offers invaluable opportunities regardless of what stage you are in your career. Experienced professionals benefit from presenting to a diverse and well-informed audience while young practitioners gain confidence presenting to an inclusive group of marine industry professionals.

    What are the "Hot Topics"?

Abstracts for technical sessions should align with the following "hot topics" areas. However, these topics are not exclusive and abstracts on state-of-the-art and innovative advances in all areas of marine engineering will be considered as aligned with our theme.

    -       Solutions to address recruitment and retention challenges

    -       Creating Diversity in the Marine Sector

    -       New and emerging technology

    -       Maritime emissions and changing regulations

    -       Alternative fuels, energy capture and storage

    -       Sails, solar, and other sustainable energy in reducing the carbon footprint

    -       Electric propulsion, hybrid solutions

    -       Data analytics and Predictive Maintenance

    -       Vessel innovations:  antifouling, ballast alternatives, hull designs

    -       Arctic operations for equipment and vessels

How will the sessions be formatted?

Mari-Tech 2024 will offer technical presentations of 45 minutes (35 minute presentation, 10 minute Q&A)

    How to submit an abstract?

Authors are invited to submit their abstract of a maximum of 300 words online by 11:59 PM (ET) Wednesday, November 30th, 2023. Abstract must be written in English. Please identify all speakers who will be in person to present.

    How are the papers selected?

The Mari-Tech 2024 program subcommittee will review all abstracts and make selections using a consensus approach. The intention is to select interesting abstracts that will inspire lively and fruitful discussions and selection will be based on the abstracts received. It is important that they contain sufficient information to demonstrate technical merit, innovation, and relevance with more educational value than a business development focus.

The program subcommittee, at its sole discretion, may select any or none of the abstracts received and decisions are final. Invitations to present will be sent to authors whose abstracts are accepted by the program subcommittee by Friday, December 16, 2023.

Questions regarding submitting an abstract should be directed to the Mari-Tech 2024 program subcommittee. Email:  papers@mari-techconference.ca

Exhibit Hall Floor Plan and Sponsorship Opportunities will be available shortly - stay tuned!
