Electronic Media Competition

Congratulations to this year's Electronic Media Competition winners!

Student Design Competition


Despite the 2020 SNAME Maritime Convention took place virtually, we still be held a Student Design Competition! Teams of between 1 and 4 students were given 2 hours to design and build a floating structure. The allowed materials of the structures were limited to cardboard, water bottles, duct tape, wooden pencils, pop cans, aluminum foil, plastic bags, box cutters, scissors, rubber bands, balloons. Teams recorded a video of their structure’s seakeeping performance being tested with the use of standardized weights of sealed soda cans and water bottles and submitted it showing their structure’s  dimensions and an outline of the design and testing process.

The winners were:

1st place - Tyler's Design by Tyler Brunquell from Stevens Institute of Technology
