April, 2010 - Thrustmaster Thrusters

Numerous members of SNAME serve among the people of Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc., manufacturer of such products as fixed pitch propeller hydraulic and mechanical thrusters with direct engine drive, electric drive or hydraulic drive, and underwater mountable thrusters.

Thrustmaster built 12 of the 5MW azimuth thrusters pictured above in their Houston facilities for Frontier Drilling’s new generation drillships “Bully 1” and Bully 2”, which are currently under construction at Keppel Fels in Singapore. The vessels are under long term charter with Shell Exploration and Production for deep water drilling activities in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Arctic. Thrustmaster’s brand new Houston plant is the largest thruster factory in the world.

SNAME rotates the SNAME.org main banner picture on a monthly basis.  Members are encouraged to submit digital photos of the vessels, platforms and other craft resulting from member work for inclusion on SNAME.org main banner.  Only high-quality, horizontally oriented digital images of content with an obvious connection to SNAME members will be considered for inclusion.  All decisions on banner photos are made by SNAME Technical Director, Prof. Alan Rowen.  Members should submit photos with a short description to Professor Rowen at arowen@sname.org.
