Henry Reeve was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. Obviously, being a native of one of North America’s most beautiful coastal communities shaped his career direction. “I have been an avid sailor for all my life, and it is my love of sailing that drew me to Naval Architecture,” Henry stated.
Following undergraduate work at the University of British Columbia, Henry completed his masters at UC Berkeley and quickly entered the profession. His first port-of-duty was Houston for ABS, mostly in offshore engineering. After a little more than a year at the Offshore Model Basin in Escondido, CA, Henry joined his current employer, Alan C. McClure Associates, in 2004. He is ACMA’s lead naval architect for hydrodynamics, moorings, and motions.
A committed volunteer for SNAME’s committee work, Henry’s impact on SNAME was never been more apparent than at the 2009 Annual Meeting in Providence. As Chair of the Annual Meeting and Symposia Committee, Henry was a driving force behind bringing an on-the-water event to the Society’s largest gathering. “I jump at any opportunity to go racing,” he said, and was good to his word as an sailor in the SNAME 1st Annual Regatta. While Reeve and his boat, which he co-skippered with Scott McClure, did not finish “in the pewter” in Providence, the event was a smashing success.
Henry and his wife of nearly a decade, Tiffani, have two greyhounds. While the dogs are retired racers, we are looking forward to Henry’s return to the water at the 2nd Annual SNAME Regatta in Bellevue/Seattle next year.
