Stefan Wolczko
3-year SNAME Member

Stefan Wolczko began working with SNAME earlier this year as the Young Professionals, or YP, coordinator for the Pacific Northwest Section. Since then, he has worked to achieve the goal of the new YP program, which is to integrate younger and people who are otherwise new to the industry into the SNAME membership. To this end, he has implemented semi-technical and non-technical events that appeal to members of any age, allowing all members of the PNW section to help carry out this ongoing mission.

Stefan is very excited about the Annual Meeting coming to the Pacific Northwest and the increased attention paid to YP functions within SNAME and at this Annual Meeting. "I'd like to enthusiastically invite any interested members to join the Pool Hall Social event hosted by the YP Program on the night of Wednesday November 3rd to kick off the meeting."  Stefan notes that like any other YP function, this event is open to all SNAME members, "regardless of age!"

Stefan Wolczko is a naval architect working with Guido Perla and Associates (GPA) in downtown Seattle, Washington. GPA is a full-service commercial vessel design company that specializes in offshore support vessels, workboats, passenger vessels, and fishing vessels. Stefan has had the opportunity to be involved with vessel design and development within most of GPA’s concentrations—including OSVs, tugs, and ferries—since his first student work term with GPA in 2007. He has also been engaged with conceptual design work, which has included development of GPA’s marine renewable energy support business.

Stefan began work with GPA full time after graduating with a B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 2009 from Webb Institute, in Glen Cove, NY. He has been an active sailor since he was much younger, including 16 months of bluewater cruising, during which he circumnavigated the Pacific Ocean with his family.

He would like to welcome SNAME members to the Pacific Northwest.  "I encourage all attendees of the 2010 Annual Meeting to let me know if I can be of any assistance."
